Lake Powell Water Level Update June 4, 2009

As of June 3rd, 2009 the Lake Powell water level is 3630.72 feet above sea level. The Lake has been rising about 6 inches a day for the past several days. Last week saw rises of between 8 and 10 inches a day. Currently Lake Powell is 59.28 feet below full pool.

Last Sunday I spent the afternoon at Lone Rock beach with family playing in the water and running around in the boat. Below are a couple of photos that show where the water level was Sunday on the side of Lone Rock.

The USBR is predicting 3640 for the June 2nd 2009 update

Yes, the USBR has been sticking pretty close to the 3640 number for several months. I am still astounded how they usually get it so dang close :)

It would have been nice to get more, but 60 feet low, to end spring runoff, is better than 100 feet low. (Crosses fingers for next year)

Does this mean the cut is open?

  4. Barbara says:

Never mind. This site tells me the cut is now open for the summer:

is the lake full enough to load boats into the water

  6. Barbara says:

Yes, the lake is plenty full enough for launching. We were there a few weeks ago. The cut is open. In fact the lake is only 50 feet low below full which is quite high. I recommend having a good map to know where the main channel is. There are still submerged mountains, and you need to know where they are.

I don’t consider the lake full as stated until all the designed ramps can be used.
